tonebase Piano Camp returns to Adamant!

Immerse yourself in music, nature, and friendship at tonebase’s unique Piano Camp experience, held on the idyllic campus of Adamant Music School in Vermont. You’ll learn from inspiring teachers in lessons, workshops, masterclasses, with personalized instruction and the opportunity to take part in engaging musical offerings all day long. You’ll also have the chance to enjoy a perfect Vermont summer with stargazing, campfires, and walks along streams, lakes, and beautiful woodland paths!

We welcome pianists of all ages and levels! The program is equally suited to aspiring professionals, adult amateurs and lifelong learners, teachers looking for artistic renewal. Regardless of your background, you'll come away from Piano Camp with the tools, inspiration, and network that will take your playing to the next level. Here are just a few of the offerings of the program:

  • Personalized Instruction: At the heart of Piano Camp is one-on-one work with faculty. Participants receive multiple lessons tailored to their repertoire and goals, with the rare opportunity to observe others’ lessons throughout the week.
  • Perform For Others: Optional performance opportunity at the end of each session
  • Engaging Presentations and Workshops: Curated events on practical, essential topics, with constant opportunities to ask questions and participate!
  • Practice Immersion: Plentiful practice time on 46 grand pianos, with nearly one practice studio for each participant
  • Farm-to-Table Dining: On-campus dining featuring delicious, freshly prepared meals and round-the-clock snacks
  • Private Accommodations: Participants enjoy single-occupancy bedrooms in six comfortable rustic campus residences (bathroom shared between 2-4 people)
  • Convenient Location: Easily accessible from Burlington Airport, and located just a few hours from major cities like New York and Boston.

Two Lengths

Participants can stay for the full 10-day program, or attend for one 5-day session.

  • Full Session: an immersive experience with continuity that supports meaningful, lasting progress in your playing
  • Half Session: a balanced week including private lessons and full access to all workshops and activities

Many participants choose to stay for the full 10 days to deepen their work and fully settle in to the musical, social, and natural environment.

Foundations

A welcoming track for participants who want to take part in the full experience with a slightly reduced lesson load. Particularly suitable for beginner and intermediate pianists.

Standard

The classic tonebase experience. Focused, flexible, and deeply engaging. Most participants choose this option.

Immersive (limited to 5 participants)

  • Guided Practice Sessions to build more effective habits, right at the source.
  • Personalized Recommendations: faculty will take into account your musical interests (Bach, double notes, Spanish music, stage fright, etc) and prepare recommendations in advance that are specifically tailored to your needs and interests.
  • Priority Access to faculty, lessons, and practice times
  • Pre-session coaching for goal-setting
  • As a special launch bonus, we’re offering 90 days of post-session coaching, with personalized video feedback and live check-ins to help you build on your experience and move into an exciting new chapter at the piano.

Dominic Cheli

Dominic Cheli, an “inspired keyboardist” (ArtsFuse), has performed at Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and major festivals. Head of Tonebase Piano, he champions accessible music education and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Dr. Noah Hardaway

“A technically gifted young virtuoso” (Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia), prizewinning pianist Noah Alden Hardaway has forged a path as a concert artist, inspiring teacher, and artistic director. His passion for curating inclusive, unconventional projects drives his work as Piano Events Director at tonebase and other dynamic festivals.

Nicolas Namoradze

Nicolas Namoradze

An internationally acclaimed pianist and composer, Namoradze rose to fame after the 2018 Honens Competition and has since earned major awards, critical praise worldwide, and chart-topping recordings. Equally active as a scholar and innovator, he teaches at Juilliard and the CUNY Graduate Center, reimagining concert experiences through interdisciplinary research linking music, cognition, and performance.

Magdalena Baczewska

Magdalena Baczewska, pianist, harpsichordist, and Columbia University’s Director of Music Performance, performs globally with top orchestras. A Yamaha Artist and educator, she pioneers long-distance teaching and interdisciplinary musical collaborations.

Jarred Dunn

Jarred Dunn

“A virtuoso with the most exquisite touch,” Dunn has established himself as an artist of rare sensitivity and command. Concertizing widely in North America and Europe, Dunn has been featured on CBC’s Top 30 Under 30: Hot Canadian Classical Musicians, and his 2025 album of the complete music of Górecki has been acclaimed as “a landmark recording.” A decorated teacher and recipient of numerous first prizes in international competitions, Dunn is a Yamaha Artist.

Robert Durso

Robert Durso

A leading light in the field of piano technique pedagogy, Robert Durso worked extensively with Dorothy Taubman and Edna Golandsky. He developed the teacher training program at the Golandsky Institute that professionally trains teachers in the Taubman Approach.

Sara Davis Buechner

Sara Davis Buechner

Sara Davis Buechner is one of the most original and accomplished concert pianists of our time. Lauded for her “intelligence, integrity and all-encompassing technical prowess” (New York Times), “Buechner has no superior” (Japan's InTune). Medalist at the Tchaikovsky Competetion and a bouquet of other esteemed contests, Ms. Buechner teaches at Temple University.

    Using the Taubman Approach, organize groups of notes to make even the most difficult passages feel easy! Repertoire examples demonstrate general and subtle grouping principles.
  • Sara Davis Buechner Practice Every Day the Busoni Way: 12 Rules for Practice
    Build profoundly healthy practice habits by learning the mindset of a great master.

    Learn the fundamentals of articulation, scales, and trills in this session intended for pianists early in their journey.
  • Intro to Sight Reading with Dominic Cheli

    Set yourself up for success by matching science-backed body mechanics with the needs of the music! Case studies from Bach, Chopin, and beyond.

Foundations Workshops

  • Beginner Technique: Large Motions with Dominic Cheli
    Build motor skills for arpeggios, octaves, and chords in this introductory course.
  • Optimizing Your Piano with Dominic Cheli and an Artist Piano Technician
    Get the most from your instrument: guidance on piano buying and how to effectively communicate wiith your piano technician.

This camp provides unparalleled opportunities to grow as a musician through hands-on mentorship, world-class instruction, and a dynamic learning experience at Adamant Music School.

The One-on-One Lesson Experience

  • Private Lessons – Each participant receives 2, 3, or 5 personalized private lessons in each session, all tailored to support artistic and technical growth.
  • Faculty Selection – Participants can request their preferred faculty for private lessons. Immersive Program participants receive priority selection.

Open-Door Policy: Learn from Every Lesson

Lessons follow an open-door policy, allowing participants to observe any session (with the student's permission, of course!). This immersive approach fosters a collaborative and inspiring learning environment, where pianists gain valuable insights from different teaching styles, techniques, and interpretations from our diverse faculty. Watching a variety of lessons helps deepen musical understanding, offering thought-provoking perspectives on phrasing, technique, and artistry.

The tonebase Piano Camp at Adamant isn't only a collection of lessons and workshops: it is a profound opportunity to connect, collaborate, and explore the piano and its repertoire in new ways.

  • Communal Meals in a Convivial Setting

    Enjoy delicious, chef-prepared meals at the on-campus dining hall, accommodating all dietary needs, while mingling with faculty and fellow participants of diverse backgrounds.
  • Piano Ensemble Playing

    Join forces with new friends to play 4-hand, 6-hand, and more-hand music! 

    Plus: practice 2-piano works in one of the many two-piano studios.

    With the support of an on-site music library (and lightning-fast internet for IMSLP and other score downloads), there are opportunities to form groups and collaborate beyond solo playing.


  • Performance Opportunities

    Take the stage at the Session 1 and Final Recitals! Whether you prefer to play solo or collaborate with new friends, participation is optional but encouraged.

    Participants will have the chance to connect in advance of the camp to arrange 4-hand and ensemble pieces. This is a great opportunity to share your progress and the music you love with everyone!

Beyond the Music


One of the best aspects of Piano Camp is its setting: almost a hundred and fifty acres of natural beauty make the perfect canvas for this musical retreat.

  • Hike, bike, or swim –– Revel in the fresh mountain air with classic outdoor activities, thanks to trails, biking paths, and swimming holes near the campus.
  • Massage therapy –– After a full day of music-making, decompress with an on-site massage (subject to availability, additional cost may apply)
  • Campfire nights –– Gather around the fire, sip a drink, and have s'more fun toasting marshmallows.
  • Stargazing –– Enjoy some of the darkest night skies in the continental USA, plus a guided look at the planets with a guest astronomer!

Schedule of Events

What does a day at the event look like?

7am – 9am | Breakfast at your own pace

Enjoy breakfast on your own time from a delicious spread of continental options.

9am – 12pm | Lessons and practice

Mornings are dedicated to private lessons and individual practice, allowing participants to refine their repertoire with guidance from faculty.

12pm – 1:15pm | Lunch (on-campus with faculty and participants)

A communal, chef-prepared meal provided on campus in the dining hall, offering a chance to connect with faculty and fellow participants in a relaxed setting.

1:30pm – 3:30pm | Spotlight Event (masterclasses, presentations, discussions)

A rotating session featuring workshops, faculty presentations, and engaging discussions on interpretation, technique, and performance insights. The end-of-session performances are typically held during this slot.

3:45pm – 5:45pm | Lessons, Practice, and Studio Classes

Additional lessons and practice time, alongside small-group sessions where participants can share performances and receive feedback in a supportive group setting.

6:00pm – 7:15pm | Dinner

The evening meal, shared on-campus in the dining hall – a chance to reflect and discuss the events of the day among friends.

7:30pm – 9:00pm | Evening Recreation

Occasional evening faculty presentations, and also opportunities to set freeyour imagination: campfires, stargazing, late night chats and practice sessions.
