Anne Akiko Meyers, a GRAMMY®-winning violinist, is a renowned soloist and champion of contemporary composers. She has premiered major works worldwide and serves on The Juilliard School’s Board of Trustees.

Clive Greensmith
Clive Greensmith

Clive Greensmith, former Tokyo String Quartet cellist, has performed worldwide and recorded extensively. A dedicated educator, he teaches at the Colburn School and directs chamber music at Accademia Chigiana and Nevada Chamber Music Festival.

Scott Tennant

Scott Tennant, founding member of the GRAMMY®-winning L.A. Guitar Quartet, is a celebrated performer, recording artist, and author of Pumping Nylon. He chairs classical guitar studies at USC Thornton School of Music.

Dominic Cheli, an “inspired keyboardist” (ArtsFuse), has performed at Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and major festivals. Head of Tonebase Piano, he champions accessible music education and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Violinist Christian Kim has performed worldwide as a soloist and chamber musician, winning top international prizes. He leads Violin & Viola content at Tonebase and teaches at Münster University of Music.

Chelsea Tanner
Chelsea Tanner

Dr. Chelsea Tanner, flutist, educator, and mindset coach, teaches at Colburn Community School. She hosts Align Your Mind and champions musician well-being.

Dr. Noah Hardaway (Session 1 + 2)
Dr. Noah Hardaway (Session 1 + 2)

“A technically gifted young virtuoso” (Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia), prizewinning pianist Noah Alden Hardaway has forged a path as a concert artist, teacher, and artistic co-director. His passion for curating inclusive, unconventional projects drives his work as Assistant Head of Piano at tonebase and other dynamic festivals.

Magdalena Baczewska

Magdalena Baczewska, pianist, harpsichordist, and Columbia University’s Director of Music Performance, performs globally with top orchestras. A Yamaha Artist and educator, she pioneers long-distance teaching and interdisciplinary musical collaborations.

Jeremy Siskind

Jeremy Siskind, a jazz pianist, composer, and educator, is a Yamaha Artist whose acclaimed albums and best-selling instructional books shape modern jazz pedagogy. He teaches at Fullerton College and collaborates globally.

TY Zhang

TY Zhang, Grand Prize winner of the 2017 GFA-ICAC, has performed worldwide, recorded for Naxos, and won the 2023 Concert Artists Guild Competition. He is Classical Guitar Faculty at UC Irvine and a USC DMA graduate.

Dr. Connie Sheu, a dynamic guitarist and educator, has performed worldwide and at top venues like Carnegie Hall. She teaches at Pomona College and the Colburn School and performs with Duo Arroyo.

Dr. Eloise Kim, a prize-winning pianist and dedicated educator, teaches at Colburn Conservatory and maintains an active private studio. A USC DMA graduate, she continues to perform as a collaborative pianist nationwide.

Ashley M. Lucero is a guitarist, composer, and educator specializing in classical and flamenco. A national prizewinner and active performer, she teaches at Baptist University of the Americas and is pursuing a DMA at USC.

Benjamin Lash is a soloist, chamber musician, and Assistant Principal of the Pacific Symphony. A dedicated educator, he teaches at Colburn and Montecito, with students accepted into top conservatories.

Violinist Filip Pogády, praised for his virtuosity, has performed at top venues worldwide. A Manhattan School of Music graduate and protege of Pinchas Zukerman, he debuted at 11 and is currently based in New York City.

The Tonebase Los Angeles Music Intensive is centered around private lessons and masterclasses, designed to refine your technique, artistry, and performance skills. Participants will work closely with renowned tonebase artists and master teachers, receiving personalized guidance while also having the unique opportunity to observe others' lessons, fostering an immersive and collaborative learning environment.

  • Two Private Lessons Per Session – Each participant receives two personalized private lessons tailored to their artistic and technical growth.
  • Faculty Selection – Participants can select their preferred faculty for private lessons.
  • Priority Placement – Participants who enroll with the Premium Pass receive priority in faculty selection and scheduling.

Open-Door Policy: Learn from Every Lesson

All private lessons follow an open-door policy, allowing participants to observe any session. What does a day at the event look like?

8am -12pm: Lessons and Practice

Mornings are dedicated to private lessons and individual practice, allowing participants to refine their repertoire with guidance from faculty.

12 PM–2 PM | Lunch (group meal with faculty, provided by tonebase at the Colburn School!)

A group meal provided by tonebase at the Colburn School, offering a chance to connect with faculty and fellow participants in a relaxed setting.

2 PM–4 PM | Spotlight Event (masterclasses, presentations, discussions)

A rotating session featuring masterclasses, faculty presentations, and engaging discussions on interpretation, technique, and performance insights.

4 PM–6 PM | Lessons, Practice, and Studio Classes

Additional lessons and practice time, alongside studio classes where participants can share performances and receive feedback in a supportive group setting.
